Barbarian Beginner Leveling Build Guide

Barbarian Beginner Leveling Build Guide

Last Updated: Mar 07, 2026 by Team ActionRPG

About

This guide outlines a high-uptime Berserker Barbarian leveling build. The strategy focuses on entering the Berserk state and using a specific skill rotation to maintain those combat buffs indefinitely. This leveling build serves as a streamlined introduction to the Barbarian class. It centers entirely on the Berserk mechanic—a state that grants increased damage and movement speed. By cycling through a specific rotation of Brawling and Core skills, you can extend this enhanced state indefinitely, ensuring you are always fighting at maximum potential.

Gameplay Loop

To maintain 100% Berserk uptime, follow this priority rotation:

  • Initiate: Cast War Cry to immediately enter the Berserk state.

  • Extend: Use Ground Stomp and Charge to refresh and extend your Berserking duration.

  • Generate & Buff: Use Frenzy against enemies to stack damage buffs, reduce incoming damage, and keep your Fury at maximum.

  • The "Infinite" Loop: Use Double Swing as your primary Fury spender; it acts as a free Berserk timer extender, allowing you to stay transformed as long as you have targets to hit.

What is this build for?

This build walks you through a basic skilltree build from Basic skills to your Key passive, setting you up for a simple structured build you can use to experience the game as a new player to the Barbarian. This build can be enhanced further and can be played all the way to max level, however, the idea of the build is to help introduce players to the fundamental playstyle for the Barbarian class. Once you reach the end of this build, you will be able to move towards any of our Barbarian Endgame build guides with the a solid amount of resources and hopefully gear drops to move towards max level.

Additional information

Notable Gear:

Relentless Berserker's Aspect (helm) - Grants additional Berserking time when using Core skills.

Berserk Ripping & Slaking Aspect (rings) - These work together to provide Fury when hitting bleeding targets, often making Double Swing free to cast.

Vocalized Empowerment (amulet) - Dramatically increases Fury generation, allowing for near-constant Double Swing spam.

High priority "Drop Only" Aspects:

Aspect of the Flaming Rampage (2-Handed Weapon): If you find this, equip it immediately. It is powerful enough to replace Edgemaster’s Aspect in your primary weapon slot.

Helltides

What is it?

Region-wide demonic invasions that cycle across Sanctuary. They feature high enemy density, environmental hazards (meteor showers), and unique chests called Tortured Gifts.

  • How to use for leveling: Helltides are your primary 1–60 engine.

  • Strategy: Focus on the Accursed Ritual (the "Maiden" event) where players group up to summon a boss. It provides the highest XP-per-hour in the open world.

  • Pro Tip: Use the Profane Mindcage (if available in the current season) to increase enemy levels by +10, significantly boosting your XP gains while farming Cinders for chests.
